At Joe Morten & Son, we believe an investment in year-round safety practices is a sound one that will yield future returns. Based on typical claims, we suggest the following:
January’s loss trends show an increase in loss of control, intersection, and backing crashes. Adverse weather and road conditions contribute to loss of control crashes.
February’s loss trends find an increase in rear-end and loss of control collisions.
Claims due to hit objects and backing collisions tend to spike in March.
April’s loss trends show an increase in intersection collisions.
Rear-end and loss of control/upset crashes tend to increase in May.
June’s trends show increases in lane change/sideswipe and intersection collisions.
Typically, July’s most frequent and severe claims result from rear-end collisions, mechanical defects and lane change/sideswipes.
Rear-end and intersection collisions, mechanical defects and sideswipe crashes are typical losses that occur in August.
September’s loss trends show higher rates of intersection and lane change collisions.
Increases in intersection, rear-end, and lane change/sideswipe collisions, as well as hitting object losses, tend to occur in October.
Claims in November’ tend toward upsets, and intersection, sideswipe, hitting object, and loss of control collisions.
December’s loss trends reveal spikes in loss of control, intersection and sideswipe collisions.
